Hey guys. I'm Alex from Athens, (Where Mayfield's Milk is made, haha) In between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Currently I'm driving/ tinkering on my 1998 Stock Disco, though I'm very interested in purchasing another already modified truck. Sometime this summer, I'd love to join some of you guys on the trails, hopefully in my new truck! You can also catch me on www.landroverforums.com. Profile picture coming soon..

Hello Josh! I was just in your beautiful city Saturday exploring lookout mountain. I saw a nice green d1 with a safety devices roofrack over towards lookout mtn, that wouldn't have been you would it?

As for the lift, they are VERY easy to do!! Rent a spring compressor from auto zone for a fully refundable deposit and have at it. Post up any questions if you have any as you go along.

If it's a two inch spring lift, you can do it without the compressor. Just stick a bottle jack between the axle and frame. At least that's how we do it. Be sure to hose down every nut and bolt with pb blaster a day or two before the job and then while your working on it (rear shock bolts, little nuts at base of rear springs, front shock tower bolts, lower and upper front shock bolts, and i can't remember if there are retainer bolts at bottom of front springs). I would start with the rear since it's more straight forward. Jack the rear up and put the frame on Jack Stands high enough for axle to lower down. Remove wheels. You may want to remove brake caliper for simplicity. Remove rear shock (2 bolts) remove retaining bolts at base of spring, the seperate the axle from frame with bottle jack until you can remove spring. When taking lift springs off of donor truck note the top and bottom as some springs are different on either end. Then simply reverse the steps to put it back together.

Now to the front. The little bolts on the front shock towers like to snap if they are rusted so take your time. Same steps as rear except you have to remove the four bolts on each tower to slide shock through the top. When putting it back together don't forget to put upper retaining ring back in with the four bolts on it before you put spring in. That will frustrate you if you don't. Trust me I know.

All in all if you know righty tighty lefty loosey you can do the swap. It takes us 2 to 3 hrs so I would double that and then double it again in your case since it's your first one and you have to do it twice. Start with donor truck removal incase you run into any snags.

    Good Luck

P.S. do you know Clint down there, he drives a Rangie, if not I can get you in touch with him and you guys can hit it together
